Members of the Task Force of the Enforcement and Control Section of Traffic Kowloon East launched an operation to combat dangerous driving and speeding in the region today (March 6).
During the operation, police officers arrested a 32-year-old man suspected of "speeding", "dangerous driving" and illegal modification of vehicles.
At about noon, the police officers found a private car driving at high speed along Po Shun Road towards Tiu Keng Leng, interspersed with the traffic, and started to chase, and successfully stopped the private car on Jianglan Highway near Po Yip Road.
After preliminary investigation, the 32-year-old male driver surnamed Lin was arrested on suspicion of "speeding" and "dangerous driving". He has been released on bail pending investigation and must report to the police in mid-April.
After investigation, it was suspected that the private car was illegally modified and was suspected of violating the Road Traffic (Construction and Maintenance of Vehicles) Regulations. The vehicle involved has been detained at the Kowloon Bay Vehicle Inspection Center for further inspection.
The Police will continue to step up law enforcement to combat speeding, dangerous driving, illegally modified vehicles and other traffic violations. Through stringent traffic enforcement actions, we will ensure smooth flow of roads, safeguard public safety and raise road safety awareness of road users.
