A Banksy work gets a new life.
A year after the start of the Russian invasion, the Ukrainian Post created stamps decorated with the colors of one of the British graffiti artist's frescoes.
Made on a destroyed wall in the town of Borodianka, northwest of Kiev, it shows a young judoka knocking down an adult man, an allegory of Ukraine defeating Russia.
A message has been added on the left side of the new stamp which can be translated as
“Fuck you Putin”
.
Several dozen residents of the capital went to buy these new stamps as soon as they came out, in the main post office on the famous Maidan square, in the city center, noted an AFP journalist.
Present in the queue that formed in the lobby, Svetlana, a 50-year-old economist, made the trip
“because I support the
Ukrainian armed forces” and that
“the stamp is printed at a historic moment”
, one year after the start of the war, on February 24, 2022.
