Moustapha Sylla, the Ivorian defender for RC Abidjan, died on Sunday after collapsing on the pitch during the team's league match against SOL FC, his club said.
Silla was 21 years old.
She collapsed on the pitch, far from the ball, during the match played at the Robert Champroux stadium in Abidjan (Ivory Coast).
The opposing players immediately called for medical assistance when they saw Sylla fall to the ground.
RC Abidjan wrote on their official Twitter account: "Our defender Sylla Moustapha passed away this afternoon after suffering illness on the pitch."
They open an investigation for rape against the Moroccan soccer player Achraf Hakimi, according to a source close to the cause
"Management sends its sincere condolences to his family. Rest in peace Moustapha. Rest in peace LION."
Logossina Cisse, president of RC Abidjan, told AFP that Sylla died on her way to the hospital.

The team announced on its website that Sylla's burial is scheduled for Monday at the Dabou municipal cemetery (Ivory Coast).
