The famous red guide delivered its verdict and crowned several participants in the M6 culinary competition.

For 120 years, the Michelin guide has been celebrating gastronomic talents by awarding stars to the restaurants they consider to be the most innovative.

This Monday, March 6, all the starred chefs of France as well as the triple starred cooks of Europe gathered in Strasbourg in Alsace to discover the 2023 vintage.

Four former participants crowned with a star

Forty-four establishments were crowned this year, including 37 in the regions.

Among the 39 new tables having won a star, there are several former candidates of “Top chef” including M6 currently broadcasting the new season 14.

Thus, Jordan Yuste, seen in season 11 of the culinary competition, was crowned with a macaron for his restaurant L'arrivage, located in Sète.

The cook obtained his CAP in 2016 after a retraining and opened his establishment the following year.

Thibaut Spiwack, candidate seen in season 13 of the show last year, chef of the Anona restaurant in the 17th arrondissement of Paris already crowned with a green star, was awarded a star.

Nicolas Seibold, candidate for season 7, in 2016, also won a macaroon with his establishment La Mutinerie in Lyon.

The very young Mallory Gabsi, aged only 26, and emblematic semi-finalist of season 11, obtains, for his part, a double title.

He won not only a first star for his restaurant Mallory Gabsi, a year after it opened in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, but also the Prix du Jeune chef.

" I'm very emotive.

It touches me enormously

, ”he declared in front of the audience of cooks who applauded him warmly.

Note that Georgiana Viou, candidate during the first season of the “MasterChef” amateur competition in 2010, broadcast at the time on TF1, then juror of the last season proposed this summer on France 2, obtained a first macaron for her restaurant Red in Nimes.

A disappointed former juror

If the 2023 vintage made many happy, it also made some disappointed.

The former juror of “Top Chef”, Michel Sarran has thus been demoted from two to one star for his restaurant based in Toulouse.

A news that did not fail to surprise and disappoint the cook.

"I didn't expect it at all

," he told La Dépêche.

I was rather calm this year, insofar as one can be in this profession.

The restaurant reservations are complete two months in advance, the feedback from our customers is very positive...

(…).

It was a massive blow.

I felt anger mixed with incomprehension.

It's as if a film was decried by critics and sold out.

I'm not saying there weren't mistakes on our part.

We make mistakes, otherwise the Michelin guide would not have downgraded us.

I received many messages of support following the announcement.

Some brought me a few tears.
