The mother of a 10-year-old boy and his stepfather, residents of Ashdod, were arrested last night (Sunday) on suspicion of acts of violence against their son.

The two were arrested following a report received by the police about signs of injury on the boy's body, when he arrived at school.



From the police investigation, the suspicion arose that the 10-year-old's mother used violence against him and his stepfather watched what was happening without acting to prevent it.

Later in the day, the two will be brought before the Ashkelon Magistrate's Court with a request to extend their detention.

About two weeks ago, a mother from Bnei Brak was arrested on suspicion of trying to contaminate the wounds of her one-year-old toddler son.

The report on the case was received from Safra Children's Hospital, after the medical staff noticed the mother's abnormal behavior.

She was arrested on suspicion of abusing a helpless person and released to house arrest.

The one-year-old's condition is mild.
