An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale rocked the Mindanao region in the southern Philippines today, without immediate reports of injuries or damage.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 34 kilometers at latitude 7.43 degrees north and longitude 126.09 degrees east.
The Philippines is subject to frequent seismic activities, due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire.
