Their place: One out of every three women in Israel feels that gender hinders her advancement at work - according to a survey conducted by the company Mars in Israel, on the occasion of Women's Day 2023.
As mentioned, 32% of women feel that their gender hinders their advancement at work - two and a half times more than men who feel this way, a rate of only 13%.
Mars Israel recently conducted an online survey through the Rushink Research Institute, among a representative sample of men and women aged 18 and over, which examined how women and men perceive the issue of promoting women at work to management positions.
Mars, the international candy giant, aims to encourage gender equality at work and foster diversity and inclusion.
This finding corresponds to the findings of a study by the Mackenzie company in collaboration with LeanIn.Org, conducted last year in the USA, among 333 participating organizations employing more than 12 million employees, in which more than 40,000 employees were surveyed.
The research showed that women in senior positions change jobs at higher rates than ever before and at higher rates than men in management.
This is in order to exhaust their promotion possibilities at work, to reach more senior positions, when they encounter the glass ceiling in the organization.
This study revealed that for every 100 men who are promoted from entry-level positions to management positions, only 87 women are promoted.
The change has not yet arrived
The majority of Israeli women chose first place the importance of promoting equal rights, the issue of equal opportunities at work, promotion possibilities and reducing the wage gap between men and women, with 43%.
This finding also ranked high in the international survey among women around the world, which indicates the importance of the issue in Israel and in the world, in the perception of the status of women and their ability to realize their potential.
Naama Moshkovich, Director of Corporate Communications at Mars Israel and the Baltic States, says: "The findings of the survey paint a worrying picture, that in the Israel of 2023 women still feel that their gender is an obstacle or even prevents them from advancing at work. The Mars company aims to promote women at work and in society, and to encourage A discourse on gender equality".
