Hanegbi and Sullivan at the White House: "We must create a deterrent to Iran's regional activities" | Israel today

The US and Israel will increase their coordination to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons and to create a deterrent to its hostile regional activities. This is what the White House reports this morning (Tuesday),

at the end of the meeting of the head of the National Security Council, Tzachi Hanegbi, with National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

In a statement issued after the meeting, in which Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer was also present, it was stated that the White House hosted "Israeli National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi, Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, and a senior Israeli interagency delegation at the White House on March 6 for a meeting of the advisory group The US-Israel Strategy".

According to the White House, the meeting was attended by senior representatives from their foreign policy, defense and intelligence agencies.

It was also reported that "the officials examined with significant concern the progress in Iran's nuclear program and confirmed their mutual goal to further improve the long-standing security partnership between Israel and the United States." In this context, officials pledged to increase cooperation between the two countries in measures to prevent the acquisition of weapons Iran's nukes and creating deterrence.

During the meeting, the three reviewed the latest joint military exercises between the IDF and the US Army.

Later this week, American Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is expected to visit Israel.

"The senior officials examined the efforts to further deepen Israel's security and political integration in the Middle East region through the Abraham Accords, the Negev Forum and other formats such as I2U2," the White House said in a statement.
