Registration for the program that subsidizes end-of-year trips to public and private school students opened last week. They will take place between August and October, coinciding with the PASO and the general ones.

The government of the province of Buenos Aires, headed by Axel Kicillof, opened last week the enrollment of students from public and private schools to a new edition of the program through which it finances the trips of adolescent graduates in their last year of high

school

.

The third edition of the program

will coincide with the date on which the elections will be held

, first the PASO in August and then the general elections in October, in which the governor is committed to fighting for a new re-election in the province.

The deadline to sign up for the trips will be March 31, at https://viajefindecurso.gba.gob.ar/.

"In the framework of the Tourism Sector Reactivation Program, the Government of the Province of Buenos Aires opened the registration for end-of-course trips for students who during 2023 attend the last year of secondary level (6th year in the oriented secondary and the Artistic modality and 7th year of the Professional Technical modality) of educational establishments of state management and private management", the official document states.

And it continues with the details of the conditions of the trips that the students will be able to make.

"Accommodation, excursions, transfers, meals and insurance will be included, within the framework of packages that will be offered by authorized travel agencies for student tourism," says the text.

Axel Kicillof launched the free graduate travel program in 2021 and authorized a new edition last year.

Coinciding with the elections,

the trips will take place between August and October

,

they will last four days and three nights

to different destinations in the province of Buenos Aires, among which you can choose the beach, mountains, lakes and lagoons, or surroundings rural.

The trips financed by the Province do not prevent young people from making their own, classic ones, to Bariloche, for example.

In this regard, it is clarified: "

It is important to note that end-of-course trips are not part of the "educational outings"

organized by educational establishments, but rather in National Law No. 25,599/2002."

And it is added: "Therefore, the teachers will not be able to participate as companions framed in that figure, in the end-of-course trips. Their absences will not be justified nor will they have insurance coverage."

Among the conditions, it stands out that "tourism agencies may not request money from students for the benefits inherent to the correct development of the trip and already included in the tourist package."

And it is emphasized that "

the trip is completely free and for all students who meet the requirements stipulated herein

."

In addition, they explain that "a single destination will be assigned per school and an Agency that will organize the trip" and that "the date of the trip will be assigned according to availability once the registration is closed."

In order to participate, the condition of regular student of the last year of the secondary level must be validated.

Opposition criticism

The decision of the Buenos Aires government motivated criticism from the opposition.

The person who announced the measure on social networks was the provincial legislator of Together for Change, Sergio Siciliano.

who tweeted: "New electoral year, new Platita Plan. Now with the hunger and insecurity of Buenos Aires residents we are going to finance free trips for graduates in the election months. With or without a drowning slap, this year @Kicillofok is leaving."

It will be the third edition of the graduate trips sponsored by the Buenos Aires government, after its debut in the still pandemic 2021.

In 2022

, it was even known that the Province disbursed around

$6,500 million

in this educational initiative.

Earlier this year, Kicillof had indicated that he was going to make this decision.

"We finished the second stage of the end-of-year trips for everyone and we will continue to do so. It has sentimental and educational value, and we want everyone to have access to the university, the right to education, which is vital," said the Buenos Aires governor. .
