There is no doubt, the Israeli holidays are high in calories and the variety of traditional foods produced by the bakeries and pastry shops from Hanukkah to Purim does not contribute either.

Therefore, especially for the holiday and since we have already eaten quite a few manna ears so far, here is a recipe for reduced calorie manna ears filled with dark chocolate and combined with coconut by Tamar Yadin, a clinical dietitian and consultant for the Herbalife company.

Ingredients for the dough (about 20 manna ears)

75 grams of butter

1/4 cup of sugar or 1/2 teaspoon of stevia

a tablespoon of sweet cream, if you convert with low-fat cream then a tablespoon and a half of a

medium-sized egg

a cup of whole wheat flour or whole wheat flour

1/4 bag of baking powder

Ingredients for the dark chocolate filling

100 grams of dark chocolate, preferably 80% cocoa solids or more

1/4 cup walnuts

1/4 cup coconut cream a

tablespoon of Irish cream (optional)

salt to taste

Method of preparation

Mix the butter and sugar or stevia in a mixer bowl, occasionally cleaning the sides of the bowl.

When a puree is formed, add the egg and continue mixing.

After the egg has been incorporated, add to the bowl and mix the coconut and the sweet cream.

Add the flour and baking powder to the puree and mix for a few seconds until the upgraded dough is formed.

Wrap the bowl in cling film and put in the fridge for an hour.

Meanwhile, prepare the dark chocolate filling:

Melt the dark chocolate and coconut cream in a suitable bowl in the microwave.

Add Irish cream and salt.

After cooling for a few minutes, add walnuts to the filling.

Put in the fridge for an hour.

After an hour, put in a sprinkling bag (you can use a normal plastic bag and make a suitable hole in it for sprinkling).

Preparing the haman ears:

Take the dough out of the refrigerator and roll it out on a floured work surface to a thickness of about 1/2 cm. Make a manna ear shape with a circle about 6 cm in diameter for the chocolate filling.

Fill the circle with the dark chocolate filling using the piping bag and shape the Haman's ear.

In the meantime, heat the oven to 180 degrees and bake for 12-15 minutes, until the heman ears are slightly golden.

Cool and transfer to a serving dish.
