Rosario: despite death threats, neighbors mark hitmen but the Police leave them alone

2023-03-07T23:54:50.398Z

"No one was left and there is a lot of fear in the neighborhood," denounced Julio Jerez, father of the murdered 12-year-old boy. The case has 6 detainees and one was designated as a shooter.

The drama of the neighbors, in the Los Pumitas area, does not subside.

Added to the excruciating pain for the crime of a child, to the postponements with which they live on a daily basis, is now added the terror in the face of the threat of the same drug traffickers who, in some way, seem involved in the atrocious attack last Sunday.

"We all receive death threats

," warned Julio Jerez, the father of Máximo, the 12-year-old boy who was shot in the chest while playing with friends in the streets of the neighborhood.

Julio cannot recover from the death of his son.

Maybe he never will.

On Monday he buried him and a while later he returned to Las Lomitas to look for the members of one of the organizations that manage drug dealing in the area and that, with their presence and their businesses, turned the sector of the Empalme Graneros neighborhood into a branch from hell.

Máximo's father took charge of the neighbors who participated in a town to destroy what they pointed out as kiosks set up for the sale of drugs.

The

Police wounded him with pellets

and saw how four people were taken into custody.

The day after, and when the case already adds up to six detainees, the desolation does not subside: now the same drug traffickers who were attacked on Sunday by another gang, which caused the death of Máximo and injured three other boys aged two and thirteen who they slowly recover,

they threaten him because of the decision he had to seek to throw the criminals

out of the neighborhood.

"No one was left and there is a lot of fear," Jerez complained bitterly.

The man assured that on Monday night, after the riot that occurred during the day, the media lifted the coverage.

A few minutes later, he denounced,

the Police left.

“The complaints for threats began yesterday (on Monday).

People linked to the Quom community, one of its highest references, had received threats.

The highest spheres of the police immediately arranged a patrol car in the place so that this person is preserved.

The threats were channeled through the prosecution.

They have made sporadic rounds and patrols in the area to preserve the integrity of all those who may be threatened," said prosecutor Adrián Spelta, in charge of investigating the murder of Máximo.

Julio's is not a personal, solitary reference.

A video and audios had been circulating since Monday warning the people of Las Pumitas that there could be consequences against them for the complaints, the destruction, fires and looting of drug stalls.

“Listen, bunch of giles.

They are going to have to return the things that they took from inside the houses because otherwise

we are going to leave a dead person inside the house every day.

Did you listen to me manga of giles?

All these balls are for you, guacho manga.

You better give things back because we're going to hit everyone, giles," says a man in an intimidating tone who in the video covers his face with a white mask, while displaying a pistol and removing the magazine to show the projectiles and load the weapon.

The circulating threats reached relatives and neighbors of Máximo.

Also to journalists who were covering the place where the minors were attacked on Sunday morning and which on Monday, in the face of police inaction, became a lack of control that led to multiple episodes of violence.

Another of the points of sale denounced by neighbors that was destroyed in the town against drug traffickers.

As part of the incidents, the neighbors removed furniture, clothing and items from the houses marked as points for the sale of drugs.

The case of a woman who rented a property to an alleged drug trafficker and who, therefore, was robbed, was even denounced, although she would be a person unrelated to the crime.

Faced with threats, some residents decided to leave the neighborhood and others considered organizing a protest to expose the situation that put them in danger.

For the prosecution, the conflict is due to a dispute between two sides that dispute the territory for the sale of drugs.

One of them is managed from prison by Carlos "El Salteño" Villazón (25), arrested for the murder of a couple and their one-year-old daughter, an episode that occurred in the context of another drug fight that occurred in February 2020. For this triple crime, Villazón was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

Máximo Iván Jerez, the 12-year-old boy murdered in Rosario.

Prosecutor Spelta believes that his gang was the recipient of the shooting attack carried out last Sunday in Cabal at 1300 bis.

The bullets did not hit the criminals, but rather the group of children who live in the same area and were eating on the sidewalk to find some relief from the heat wave.

The houses destroyed and looted after the death of Máximo were pointed out as part of the criminal structure set up by "El Salteño", so it is estimated that the threats that began to circulate hours later come from that group, which does not want to give up control. area control.

On Monday night, a day and a half after the attack, three people were arrested, although with no direct link to the crime.

They had in their possession the car indicated as the one used in the shooting against Máximo and his friends.

It was not until Tuesday afternoon that the police arrested three suspects related to the murder.

It was in places close to the area of the fatal attack.

One is a 22-year-old man whom neighbors identified as a "hitman."

In some complaints, he is accused of being one of the possible perpetrators of the criminal shooting.

On Friday it will be known what the accusation against them is and

the degree of participation they had

.

The prosecutor avoided confirming that they were the hit men in charge of carrying out the attack against the "El Salteño" gang.

“Three people were arrested next to the vehicle used, in principle, for the shooting that cost Máximo his life and that injured the other three boys.

Two of them, male, are 22 and 30 years old, which corresponds to the age of some of the perpetrators," Spelta said Tuesday, hours before three more apprehensions took place.

It remains to be seen if the evidence allows us to confirm that they are the material authors of the shooting.

“On Friday we will impute their participation in this event.

We are gathering information to see what degree of participation and collaboration they had, ”he assured.

The neighbors, meanwhile, live between the pain of a death for which they cannot find an explanation and the terror caused by the drug threats.

Tonight they were marching through the neighborhood demanding Justice and greater security.

Rosary beads.
