The Russian Consul in the US state of Houston, Alexander Zakharov, confirmed that the Russian Consulate General will not participate in the International Energy Forum in Houston for the first time in more than 20 years.
"Unfortunately, we will not participate this year for the first time in more than 20 years. Registration for the conference was canceled by the organizers at the last moment," Zakharov said in an interview with Sputnik. "Moreover, they made it clear that the presence of Russian delegates at the forum is not appropriate." Desirable, and call back to make sure I properly understand Russia's unwillingness to be involved.”
Zakharov asked, "How can the participants in the forum discuss and analyze global energy problems in the absence of one of the largest producers and exporters of energy resources?"
The Houston Forum is being held under the title “Navigating a Turbulent World… Energy, Climate and Security”, and is organized by Standard & Poor’s Global Agency, with the attendance of more than 7,000 participants, including policy makers, industry leaders, corporate executives, investors and researchers from more than 80 countries and regions around the world.
