Rafi Sa'ar, Mayor of Kfar Saba in a special column for Walla! - "There are those who do not see this or refuse to see this and it is important for me to clarify beyond any doubt. This is a true alarm. This is not mind engineering

In recent times, like every Israeli, I hear predictions from knowledgeable commentators.

Predictions about a constitutional crisis, the legal revolution, predictions about an economic crisis, but no one knows how to predict what a social crisis will look like here.

A crisis that gives its signals here and now.

A crisis that is a greater national danger than all our enemies combined.

President Yitzhak Herzog wondered at the emergency meeting held by the heads of the authorities, how Israel will celebrate the 75th Independence Day, these are always the happiest days in Israeli cities.

How will we get there this year?

Probably with a lot of sadness and embarrassment.

Probably with a lot of shame in the eyes of those who founded the country and thanks to them we are here.

There are those who do not see this or refuse to see this and it is important for me to clarify beyond any doubt.

This is a true alarm.

This is not mind engineering.

This is not some politician's spin.

It's totally real.

The cruel division that tears us apart.

The thundering noise that makes us angrier.

Which makes us hate more.

Which makes us feel less and less a part of each other.

The president's concern, I was also concerned and that of many other Israeli women and men.

A sincere concern for what we might do to ourselves, and with a sharp understanding that the saga can be ended with agreement and reconciliation.

The president of the country offers an outline.

An outline that resulted in very broad agreements of jurists on both sides of the fence.

An outline in which democracy is preserved but agreed upon and informed changes are made.

An outline that can at least be a basis for negotiations.

We in the local government fully and decisively support the President's proposal, and his leadership to calm the spirits.

The local government and everyone in front of their residents call to stop everything, sit down and talk.

I am a soldier of unity, and I promise that I will do everything in my power to lead to a dialogue.

Whether a big bush or a small bush.

Out of a sense of commitment to the State of Israel.

Because the public wants unity above all else.

I believe in turning the situation around for the better.

I believe that Israel will celebrate the upcoming Independence Day with great joy in all its beautiful parts and layers if everyone works towards this in their own way, and I, of course, even more so.
