The Olympic Games and video games are finally coming together.
The disciplines of the Olympic ESport Series 2023 still raise question marks among gamers.
Singapore – Video games as a sport have always had a difficult time. While long-established decision-makers denied the physical aspect of the medium for decades, games have finally made it and are at least noticed by the IOC.
Mario Kart, Call of Duty or Fortnite will not make it to the 2024 Olympics in Paris, but the Olympic Committee is now creating its own gaming event.
However, the disciplines provided for this irritate gamers.

What is the IOC planning for video games?
Gaming should have its own Olympic event.
From June 22nd to 25th, the world's best players will compete for the first time in the so-called Olympic ESports Series.
The qualification for the games has been running since the beginning of March.
The event for his debut is to take place in Singapore.
It is not yet known whether the event will take place every four years, similar to the well-known Olympics.

Which games will be Olympic?
Many players might be surprised which games made it into the disciplines of the first Olympic Esports Series.
You will look in vain for the shooters that are otherwise so popular in the medium.
No Fortnite or Call of Duty among the games played, but Ubisoft's long-running dance favorite Just Dance.
The other choices are obscure.
In general, very few gamers have probably heard of all the gaming disciplines of the Olympic ESports Series.
Gamers will compete in these games at the Olympic Esport Series 2023:
Tic Tac Bow

WBSC eBaseball: Power Pros

The two best-known representatives of the games selected for the Olympic ESports Series are probably Just Dance and Gran Turismo 7. Games such as Tic Tac Bow, Virtual Teakwondo or Zwift are probably only known to a minority.
The IOC justifies its choice with the fact that games were selected that come closest to real sport.
Whether you want to count Just Dance there is up to you.
