A couple stole wine worth $1.7 million from a three-star Michelin restaurant, and were sentenced to four years in prison.
The robbery took place on October 27, 2021.
The couple, the woman a Mexican citizen, and her partner a Romanian-Dutch citizen, ate at the "Atrio" restaurant, a Spanish luxury restaurant with three Michelin stars.
During their meal, the couple were given a tour of the restaurant's wine cellar and at the end of the meal, the couple went to spend the night at the hotel next to the restaurant.
Around two in the morning, the woman arrived at the hotel reception and stole an electronic key.
Using this key, the couple managed to enter the restaurant's wine cellar and steal loot worth 1.7 million dollars.

The two stole 45 bottles of wine, each worth tens of thousands of dollars.
The most expensive bottle stolen was from 1806 worth 371 thousand dollars.
In order to prevent them from breaking, the couple wrapped the bottles in hotel towels and packed them in their suitcases.
Around five in the morning, the couple left the hotel with the stolen bottles of wine in their suitcases.
The two managed to escape, but finally, almost a year after the robbery, they were arrested at the border of Montenegro and Croatia.
The court sentenced the woman to four years in prison, and the man to four and a half years for armed robbery.
To date, none of the wine bottles have been returned to the restaurant.
