A commando group assaulted the Santiago de Chile Airport
this Wednesday morning
to try to steal a cash truck and clashed in a fierce shootout with the police.
There are at least two people dead.
According to the first information, the criminals tried to steal the armored truck when
they confronted the guards who were in the place.
One of the victims is a watchman from the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC).
The other is one of the assailants who carried out the frustrated robbery.

They arrived heavily armed to the W sector of the air terminal slab, with the intention of stealing the cargo from a cash truck.
To achieve this, they would have presented apparently forged credentials.
However, DGAC guards noticed the maneuver and a fierce tussle began with the assailants who managed to escape.
Two of the vehicles they arrived with were abandoned and were being inspected.
