2023-03-08T17:32:12.298Z

Completing the series called Friends and Heroes, the prints of the portraits of Bob Marley, Hunter S. Thompson, River Phoenix and Heath Ledger, snapped up in record time for 5,000 euros each.

Johnny Depp has already proven with music that his talent is not limited to the film industry alone.

Also passionate about the visual arts, the actor launched himself last summer, selling a series of serigraphs that the public snapped up in a few hours.

Exhibited at Britain's Castle Fine Art gallery, which specializes in people and film, the collection dubbed

Friends and Heroes

included portraits of Hollywood and rock icons that inspired the

Pirates of the Caribbean actor,

Bob Dylan, late actress Elizabeth Taylor, actor Al Pacino and Rolling Stones musician Keith Richards.

“The first pieces of his

Friends & Heroes collection

, released in July 2022, sold out within hours and there was so much interest in Johnny's artistic debut that interest from collectors around the world crashed our website. !”

can we read on the gallery's website.

Intimate portraits

The actor and the same gallery repeated the feat a few days ago for the same outcome.

New portraits celebrating the art of Bob Marley and his friends writer Hunter S. Thompson and actors River Phoenix and Heath Ledger, who died in 2008 at age 28, complete the first series.

Each image is an intimate reflection of their character in Johnny's eyes;

a representation of how they revealed themselves to him, personally or through their art

”, specifies the gallery.

These intimate portraits flew away as soon as they were put on sale and at exorbitant prices.

Sold between 4,500 and 17,500 pounds for the set of four framed prints (respectively 5,000 and 19,700 euros), they earned him no less than 4.5 million pounds (i.e. five million euros) according to the Times and

the

 Daily

Mail .

Each serigraph was printed in 195 copies.

For the actor, this work is about homage, gratitude, a way of

“simply saying thank you to all these people for having been in my life …”,

he expressed on the site of the gallery.

“I have always used art to express my feelings and to reflect on those who mean the most to me, such as my family, my friends and the people I look up to.

My paintings surround my life, but I kept them to myself and limited myself.

No one should ever limit themselves,”

added the actor, referring to the springs of his new artistic talent.
