Fewer truck parking spaces, more e-charging stations: the federal government is planning the A92 rest area project from scratch - and is stopping the planning approval.

Fewer truck parking spaces, more e-charging stations: the federal government is planning the A92 rest area project from scratch - and is stopping the planning approval.

Moosburg/Langenpreising

– "The planning approval procedure for the 'Isartal' motorway service area is to start this year": This was the announcement made by the then Autobahndirektion-Süd in 2013 in the daily newspaper.

But nothing came of it for a decade - on the contrary: the planning of the tank and rest area on the A 92 Munich-Deggendorf, which should also be on the level of the municipality of Moosburg, is set to zero again just in time for the first milestone birthday.

This means that the current plan approval procedure will be stopped and withdrawn.

Total U-turn of Autobahn GmbH

As the Autobahn GmbH, the former Autobahndirektion-Süd, is currently reporting, "changed framework conditions in long-distance traffic" are the background for the planning U-turn.

The exact location is also open again.

The construction project was previously planned between the Moosburg-Süd and Erding junctions, between the Sempt flood canal and state road 2331 (Langenpreising municipality).

The new "Isartal" service station and rest area will be 450 meters long and 170 meters wide and will offer space for 112 trucks.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

Almost exactly ten years ago, at the beginning of March 2013, the federal government gave the green light for a rest area in the Isar valley on the A 92. It was to be built in the area between Moosburg and Langenpreising.

So far there has only been one parking space - in the Moosburger Au on the district border between Freising and Erding.

The resistance in the municipality of Langenpreising is still great.

But the withdrawal of Autobahn GmbH had nothing to do with that, it said.

A spokesman reports that "since planning began, essential framework conditions have changed".

On the one hand, there are new figures for the need for truck parking spaces on the A 92.

According to the spokesman, the unexpected case has occurred that fewer parking spaces are required than previously assumed.

The second point is the rapid growth in terms of electromobility.

"The construction of fast charging facilities and the space required for this must be taken into account," the press release continues.

In other words, more must be built.

So the schedule for the realization is more than open again.

A spokesman explains that one must "first determine the new foundations for the future rest area".

The question of location must be reassessed

This also means that the location question must be answered again.

Autobahn GmbH reports that it will “also check alternative locations”.

"No statements are possible yet" on the further schedule, the spokesman said.

The A 92 to Deggendorf has an exceptionally poor infrastructure.
