The return of the political show: Network 13 submitted a financial offer for a re-production of the program "Mashal Ham" presented by Nissim Mashal, which was broadcast for years on a network screen, even when it was a franchise.
Mashal edited and presented the program that was born in the days of Arutz 2 in which he hosted politicians, and discussed with them various current issues.
The broadcasts of the program resumed in 2008 in preparation for the elections to the 18th Knesset and another season of the program was broadcast in October 2012. Remember the interview with Naftali Bennett in which he talked about Bennett's attitude to refusing an order.
In addition, Mashal moderated televised confrontations, the most memorable of which was between Benjamin Netanyahu and Yitzhak Mordechai in 1999, which some see as one of the reasons for Netanyahu's loss in the elections.
It is not yet clear if the program will be uploaded in the original format, and it is assumed that this also depends on Mashal himself.
Network 13 chose not to comment on things.
The decision does not stand in a vacuum.
The decline in the ratings of Channel 13, along with repeated losses to Channel 14, forced the company's management to try to change diskette - this in the face of the huge expenses in the production of its reality shows, which, at least in recent years, do not return the investment in them commercially.
In addition, the network understands that part of the shift in viewers towards Channel 14 also stems from the difficult political atmosphere, which leads people to watch political studio programs, as part of the general discourse.
More than once, Channel 14's main current affairs program - "The Patriots" - leads over Network 13 and the Corporation in prime time, thus the network hopes to curb the trend.
The comeback of current affairs, with the legal revolution in the background, began at all with the broadcasting corporation, which recognized the thirst and leakage of viewers who were tired of reality TV to Channel 14. Two months ago it was published in Vala!
Because 25 years after the successful program "Popolitica" went off the screen, the corporation wants to return to the screen a program similar to it.
The corporation even issued a call for production companies to submit proposals for a live daily program with an audience.
Similar to "Popolitica", this program is also expected to deal with politics, culture and economics - and it is expected to be faithful to the format in "Popolitica", i.e. presenter, panel, alternating guests - and of course an audience in the studio.
However, at the corporation, at least as of the time of publication - before Ayala Hasson's arrival, they did not direct the placement of the program to prime time, but rather to the pre-prime strip of "Before the News", which is managed by the culture and entertainment division of Kan 11 and not by the news.
