Andrés Rosales waited more than a year for the embassy to authorize the visa: "It was clear to me that if my little boy left, it was one of two: that he would return completely cured or the other that I would not be able to see him again," says the father, "if it were in my hands, I would give you my life."

The Government led by Joe Biden granted a humanitarian visa to Andrés Rosales, father of Julián, an 11-year-old Colombian boy who has terminal cancer and has been treated for more than two years in a clinic in Miami, Florida.

According to Colombian media, the Customs and Border Protection Office (CBP) granted Rosales the visa thanks to the mediation of Republican Senator Marco Rubio.

The man waited more than a year for the embassy in Colombia to authorize permission to see his son, diagnosed with bone cancer, according to Radio Caracol.

"I was perfectly clear that if my little boy left, it was one of two: that he would return completely cured or the other that he would not be able to see him again," Rosales told Blu Radio;

She now hopes to travel this Wednesday to meet her son again.

"His tumor already has it in almost the entire body," said Sindy Garzón, the child's mother in an interview with the NTN24 channel.

Julián Rosales' disease began with Ewing's sarcoma, but over time it has affected other parts of his body.

"I miss him a lot. He hasn't come to see me for about two and a half or three years. I feel bored being here without my dad," Julián told NTN24.

According to his relatives, the boy is receiving palliative care, which is the last stage faced by patients with terminal illnesses and which is characterized by the implementation of therapies that try to combat physical and emotional pain.

"I should be the one who is there. If it were in my hands I would give him my life, and it makes me angry because this for me, all this effort, everything I have achieved is for him, and to feel that every day is very difficult," declared Andrés Rosales, shortly after the news broke that he was granted the visa.
