They find a body on the Texas beach where two 13-year-old Honduran twins disappeared

The body of a child was recovered on Monday in the area where the search for two 13-year-old Honduran twins who disappeared on Sunday while swimming on a beach in the city of Galveston, Texas, authorities reported Tuesday.

A woman walking on the shore early Monday morning saw a body in the water and called four other people nearby for help.

After removing the remains to the sand, they called 911 to report the find at about 2:00 am, said Austin Kirwin, a lieutenant with the Galveston Island Beach Patrol.

According to authorities, the minors were in the water about 20 meters from a pier on Sunday afternoon.

Their parents did not see them submerge, but when they looked for them they no longer found them.

Kirwin said the twins couldn't swim and warned of dangerous conditions on the beach.

He also warned that there will be no lifeguards on the coast until next week and asked people not to venture into the sea without knowing how to swim.

Authorities deployed various teams to search for the brothers, including a helicopter and boats.

The work will continue, she assured.

This Monday several people, including three boys, a girl and a man who tried to help them, were rescued after being swept away by strong rip currents in Galveston, ABC 13 reported.
