23 thousand women participated today (Wednesday) in a demonstration against the legal protest on the occasion of Women's Day throughout Israel.

The participants wore red inspired by the handmaids from the television series "The Handmaid's Tale", and were spread out in 75 centers in the country.

The organizers of the protest, the "Building an Alternative" movement, said in their statement ahead of the event: "International Women's Day is being celebrated around the world - but in Israel, instead of celebrating it, we are forced to step up the fight for our rights which are in real danger. "We are witness to the acceleration of legislation and a direct attack on my friends and

colleagues The coalition is against us, while canceling the fears of harming our rights and disregarding our fears.

It is clear to us that women will be hurt more by the dictatorship, and we must make our voices heard en masse."

The localities where the chain takes place: Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, Beer Sheva, Herzliya, Rosh Ha'Ein, Ramat Hasharon, Rosh Hankara, Harish, Netanya, Shoham, Pardes Hana and more .

According to the leaders of the protest, the performance "A Handmaid's Tale" is intended to warn against the transformation of the State of Israel from an egalitarian democracy into a theocracy that separates women and tramples on their rights, similar to the dystopian world in the novel by Margaret Atwood.

The performance, presented for the first time by the "Building an Alternative" activity at the large demonstration in Jerusalem, gained momentum throughout the country and received extensive coverage in the Israeli and international media, including CNN, Fox News, the LA Times and the Washington Post.
