One of the first questions asked in the panel of local government administrations in the Walla studio!

Why should Women's Day still be marked as a special day on the calendar in 2023? Have we not progressed enough to provide equal opportunities for women and men, but it turns out that precisely in the current government, there is a distinct absence of women from senior positions and it turns out that there is still a real need to point out the importance of maintaining Women's rights, also in 2023.

In preparation for International Women's Day 2023, gather at the Walla Studio!

For the Center for Local Government's 'Speaking from the Field' podcast, three senior managers bring their special and inspiring story.

"One day I'll run this place"

"From my personal story that can inspire young women in general, I was born in Ma'alot, a development municipality in the 1970s, which was a hard-core periphery. I was a girl with very severe and distinct learning difficulties, every teacher defined me as 'she is capable but doesn't want to,' unfortunately even though I tried Very much, I didn't manage to finish 12 years of study, I don't know how, but I was accepted to a significant position. Then I realized that it's not that I have anything clever, but that I have a difficulty, I completed my matriculation, went on to a bachelor's degree, then a master's degree and decided to take my life elsewhere, I worked It is very, very difficult to get to the place I have reached. On my first day at the Center for Local Government, 18 years ago, I told the staff, one day I will manage this administration, 11 years have passed and I was appointed head of the Administration of Muncipal Studies, we train the employees of the local authorities with 12 thousand payers a year And for me this is the closing of my circle with myself, from a child who barely managed to study and always gathered herself to manage the school system of the local government."

"I say don't be afraid of fear"

"We are in days like these, when there is a threat to women's rights, LGBT rights, and therefore we should continue to celebrate Women's Day and Women's Month... and in this era where we are a bit confused and don't know where we are headed, we should continue to promote women's rights and human rights wherever they are and not go backwards on this subject.

And when they talk about shattering the glass ceiling, I say don't be afraid of fear."

How to combine career and family

"I assumed the position of head of administration that I am pregnant. I look at my mother, who is also a career woman who says that she has paid her entire salary to a nanny for years. In order not to stop her professional work, so that she can move forward. She always said the question is not what will happen Now, but where will I go back in ten years, if I wait for you to grow up and be able to have less help at home. Many of my friends have grown up, whose mother worked part-time, which is more convenient, is at home to give lunch... In my childhood, we often had a nanny because my mother , worked full time, with an academic career, many flights abroad.

The fact that there is such a model, I looked at what interests me, not what limitations I have.

I still see women today who ask themselves how I combine it, family and career and not how the house combines it."
