Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took off today (Thursday) from Jerusalem to Israel in a helicopter, from where he will fly to a political meeting in Rome. This is due to the protesters who blocked the entrance to the airport, in an attempt to disrupt traffic between the terminals. The organizers of the demonstration said that it was intended "to raise awareness among Italian public opinion and Italian institutions of the anti-democratic drift of the current far-right government in Israel, which is trying to limit the power of justice through reforming the judicial system."

Before the flight, none of the El Al pilots volunteered to fly the Prime Minister and his family to visit Rome, and the Prime Minister's Office decided to open the tender for the flight to Rome to other Israeli airlines such as Arkia and Israel Air.
