Dr. Mein Barnea-Zahar from the Davidson Institute also warns: "It is important to take safety measures when using bleach because mixing it with other substances commonly used in the home can be dangerous.

Adding an acid to bleach (eg vinegar, descaling agents or toilet cleaners) results in the release of the toxic chlorine gas, which irritates the skin, eyes and respiratory system and can even kill.

In contact with the skin, it reacts with the fats and proteins in our skin (the skin becomes slippery because of cells that are destroyed).

Mixing with preparations that contain ammonia may emit additional toxic gases, while mixing with hydrogen peroxide may cause a strong reaction in which flammable oxygen is released."
