"Fear, but don't panic" in Umbertide, say the citizens, after the 4.4 magnitude shock distinctly felt by the population, even in neighboring municipalities, around 4 pm.

Many people took to the streets, but "the situation is calm," they say.

"My building shook very hard - explains a man - and the windows seemed to break, but then there was no damage, everything is fine".

"It was a strong shock, perhaps a startle - explains another resident - and it was also quite long".

The epicenter was recorded in the hamlet of Montecastelli, about 5 kilometers from the city of Umbertide, along the Tiberina state road leading to Città di Castello.

According to what has been learned in the Municipality, no damage has been reported in Città di Castello either.

Technical checks are underway, starting with the schools, in all nearby centres.
