President Yitzhak Herzog called this evening (Thursday) to stop the legislation of the legal revolution, because according to him, he was able to reach agreements on most of the issues.

"There are enough agreements to abandon the legislation and bring another agreed outline to the constitutional committee," the president said in a speech to the nation.

"The set of legislation that is being discussed now needs to be passed from the world - and quickly. It is wrong, it is predatory, it undermines our democratic foundations and therefore it must be replaced with another agreed outline."

In the background of the intensifying demonstrations and protest against the legal revolution, the country's President Yitzhak Herzog will deliver a speech to the nation this evening (Thursday).

This is the second speech that Herzog delivers to a nation in crisis surrounding the legal revolution.

Last month, before the approval of the first phase of the reform in the first reading in the Knesset, he gave the first speech in which he called on the coalition to stop the legislation, in order to start negotiations and presented a five-point constitutional outline as a basis for negotiations.

Justice Minister Yariv Levin and Constitutional Committee Chairman Simcha Rothman refused to stop the legislation and the opposition refused to talk as long as the legislation continued. So the president began talks between lawyers and academics from all shades of the political and liberal/conservative spectrum in an attempt to formulate an agreed upon outline for changes in the judicial system. Herzog planned to publish the outline This week, then a new outline was published - by former Minister of Justice Daniel Friedman and Prof. Yuval Albashan, which tried to circumvent the efforts to negotiate at the President's residence. In all the published outlines, large gaps remain between the coalition and the jurists, with the focus of the dispute being control of the committee for the selection of judges and Minister Levin's refusal to relinquish control of The coalition in the composition of the committee.

On Tuesday, Herzog met with representatives of the forum of the largest companies in the economy, who expressed to him their concern about the damage that may be caused to the country's economy by the legal revolution as it is currently being promoted by the government. Herzog met with them as part of his efforts to gather support for the president's outline for a compromise on the legal reform that he is promoting.

At the meeting, in which representatives of the 27 largest companies in the economy were present, they discussed with the president the potential dangers to the economy if there is no agreed outline, and asked him to continue his efforts to bring about a broad agreement.

The president intends to present a new outline for a compromise based on discussions of academics and lawyers who held talks at the president's house in recent weeks.

He is trying to mobilize public pressure on the politicians from the coalition and the opposition to accept the outline.

Earlier today, thousands demonstrated against the government in dozens of localities and cities across the country, and since the morning various roads have been blocked and many traffic disruptions have been recorded.

This, in the background of the continuation of the legislation in the Knesset of the reform articles in the legal system.

At least 20 protesters were arrested throughout the day on suspicion of disorderly conduct.

During the demonstrations, violent arrests of protesters were reported.

A police officer dislocated his shoulder and went to the Ichilov Hospital in the city for medical treatment.

The protestors blocked major lanes on the coastal road, on Route 6, in the Sharon area, in Jerusalem and in Tel Aviv - where the protestors descended on the Ayalon lanes, started a march and confronted the police.

The demonstrators chanted at the police officers "Where have you been in Hawara".

Makhtazeit arrived at the scene, and the brains put flowers on her - after they tried to block the way of the Makhtazeit.

The police cleared the protesters after about two hours and the lanes were opened to traffic.
