Success for the Munich Homicide Commission: They received 280 new tips on the Sonja Engelbrecht case.

And direct help: The investigators now have a comparative example of the ceiling from the crime scene.

Does it lead to the murderer?

On the way to solving the murder of Sonja Engelbrecht, the investigators have taken an important step: they were currently looking for a comparison blanket that is similar to the one in which the 19-year-old's body was wrapped in 1995.

Last week, the murder commission showed the remains of the fabric, which are still left 28 years after the crime, on the television program Aktenzeichen XY... unsolved.

Since then, the Presidium has received 280 tips.

Among them: a lot of calls to the ceiling.

And a hit!

"Someone who owns such a copy has contacted us," explains police spokesman Werner Kraus.

The whistleblower left the ceiling to the Presidium as a comparison piece.

Now the investigation is in full swing.

According to Kraus, the company that made the acrylic ceiling no longer exists.

For the police, however, their distribution channels are extremely interesting.

After all, Sonja Engelbrecht's murderer probably owned a copy.

He wrapped the corpse in it, which was also wrapped with foil and tape.

Then he dragged everything several hundred meters through impassable forest in Kipfenberg near Ingolstadt.

In a crevice he made his victim disappear.

As reported, it took 27 years for the remains to be found there by police in 2022.

A bone was found by a forest worker.

Sonja Engelbrecht was last seen alive on the night of April 11, 1995. At that time, after a long night out in the pub with friends, she wanted to call her sister.

But the call probably never came, and at 2:30 a.m. the trace of the woman from Munich was lost at a telephone booth on Stiglmaierplatz.

According to the latest findings, the police want to bring the investigations into their case back to file number XY in the near future.
