Will the districts be connected as planned when fiber optics are expanded in Moosburg?

Since Telekom entered the competition, doubts have increased.

Moosburg

– Fiber optic internet is to be brought to Moosburg by two companies in the coming years.

But the project is not really going according to plan.

Because the provider Deutsche GigaNetz, in partnership with the city, was supposed to bring fast Internet to all areas of the city and also to the districts.

But now Telekom is also getting involved.

In the city council, the further development was again an issue and Mayor Josef Dollinger (FW) had to bite his tongue because of the neutrality of the city.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

This time, City Councilor Manfred Tristl (CSU), who lives in Aich, and citizens from the district got the ball rolling - with an inquiry as to how fiber optics would continue in their area.

At the Aich-Pfrombach citizens' meeting, it sounded as if the district at the beginning of the Moosburg network would be developed.

Fiber optic information event on March 28 in Moosburg

Mayor Josef Dollinger explained that there will be

a kick-off information event

for the citizens on Tuesday, March 28, from 8 p.m. in the Moosburg town hall.

In addition, the company has been renting the city's premises since March 1, but has not yet moved into them.

"Actually, they should already be in marketing," said the mayor, shrugging his shoulders.

The problem for the "Fibre for All" project is currently Deutsche Telekom, which wants to lay the fast lines in the city center.

"We have to maintain neutrality," said the mayor, pointing out that there is a legal obligation to make the roads available to all companies if they want to lay fiber optic lines.

A signature at Telekom “has consequences”

Looking at Deutsche GigaNetz, Dollinger said clearly that the plans could shake: "If the planned completion rate is not achieved, then the independent expansion for the entire area is at risk." That is why the city councils criticized Telekom.

"There are consequences if you sign with Telekom," warned Philipp Fincke (FDP).

Manfred Tristl, who sees the fiber optic expansion of Aich in danger, said: "Telecom is picking out the raisins in the city area and the districts fall behind.

They even dig past Thonstetten in the direction of Langenbach.”

The fact that the feared scenario can definitely occur has also been shown in neighboring municipalities in recent weeks: For example, in the municipality of Langenbach, but also in the neighboring district of Erding, several places had become unprofitable for the originally planned network expansion provider after the Telekom had latched onto the competition.
