Insecurity in Palermo: three apartment robberies on the same block a few meters from a police station

2023-03-10T22:41:02.970Z

A woman was locked up and handcuffed by three thieves who made a pass at her. Hours later there were two other robberies.

The episodes of insecurity continue to multiply in the City of Buenos Aires.

Now, the epicenter was a block from Palermo, located a few meters from Police Station 14 of the Buenos Aires Police, where there were

robberies in three departments and an attempted entry

into a fourth.

The first of the episodes was the most violent and occurred in a building in Paraguay at 3900. Minutes after 3 in the afternoon, a 60-year-old woman answered a call at the doorman of her apartment, on the other side of the line

a The woman told him that she brought a certified letter for her husband.

Suspecting nothing strange, she opened the door of her house and immediately three men, all with black glasses and stockings on their faces, entered by force and reduced her.

They kept her

kidnapped for about half an hour, locked in a room and handcuffed,

while they ransacked the entire house, emptying all the drawers to finally steal a thousand dollars, various jewelry, personal documentation, and a set of apartment keys.

The criminals would have entered the building with a copy of the electronic key.

As

Clarín

was able to reconstruct , one of the thieves blocked the elevator and remained in the sixth floor corridor while the other two turned around the apartment in search of money.

The security cameras of the building, which are being analyzed by the investigators, show minutes later the woman who rang the doorman to tell the story of the uncle to the victim, ringing her doorbell again.

Immediately afterwards, the three criminals go down the stairs and leave the building on Paraguay street with several bags in their hands.

One hypothesis is that the thieves had information about the couple, since when calling the doorman the woman who was photographed by the security cameras said that she had a "certified letter for the lawyer..." and gave the last name of the husband of the assaulted woman

Another piece of information that is being investigated at this time is how the three men entered the building.

The strongest hypothesis is that they had an electronic key to the main door of the shield.

This is how the woman's apartment was looted by thieves.

Barely three hours later, a call to 911 alerted the Police to another act of insecurity, around the corner of the entrance to Paraguay, in a building on Guatemala Street, where two fifth-floor apartments had been looted. .

According to police information, none of the owners was present in the apartments that were assaulted.

In addition, there was a third property that the criminals tried to break into by forcing the door but without success.

There were no video records of the episode because the City does not have cameras on that stretch of cobbled street.

Although the robberies have different modalities, the temporal coincidence arouses suspicion.

Were they the same thieves or were they done in isolation from each other?

At this time, researchers are trying to find an answer to that question.

"According to the hours of the complaints, it could not be determined. Only by investigating cameras with images that can link the physical characteristics of the criminals,"

sources in the case explained to

Clarín .

Both acts of insecurity took place in the block bounded by Paraguay, Julián Álvarez, Guatemala and Araoz streets, located less than three blocks from Police Station 14-A of the City of Buenos Aires Police.

A few days ago, barely six blocks from the scene of these acts of insecurity, a 27-year-old Venezuelan national was killed with a bullet to the head when he resisted the theft of his cell phone in Palermo.
