The comedian will know this Friday if the investigating chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal confirms his release under judicial supervision.

The investigating chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal rules on Friday on the possible return to pre-trial detention of Pierre Palmade, released this week in the investigation into the road accident he caused under the influence of cocaine.

The investigating judge of Melun (Seine-et-Marne), in charge of the investigation, granted on Monday a request for release made by the 54-year-old comedian.

But the prosecution immediately appealed with a summary detention, which had the effect of suspending his release, and on which the investigating chamber must rule.

Hospitalized after a stroke

The Paris Court of Appeal, on which Seine-et-Marne depends, however decided on Tuesday not to maintain the suspensive effect of the summary detention, resulting in the release under judicial supervision of Pierre Palmade, indicated to the AFP a judicial source.

The artist had been placed in pre-trial detention on February 27 but never physically entered prison: victim of a stroke two weeks after the accident, he was operated on and is still hospitalized.

His return to detention can be decided on Friday morning but the investigating chamber can also put its decision under advisement.

On February 10, on a departmental road in Seine-et-Marne, Pierre Palmade was driving a car that hit a vehicle coming in front.

In addition to the actor, the accident caused three serious injuries: a 38-year-old man, his 6-year-old son and his 27-year-old sister-in-law, who lost the baby she was expecting after the collision.

In police custody, Pierre Palmade, plagued for decades with drug addiction problems, admitted to having consumed cocaine and synthetic drugs before driving, according to the Melun prosecution.

He was indicted for homicide and involuntary injuries by driver having used narcotics in a state of legal recidivism.

The investigation is continuing.

In addition to this case, there are investigations into the possession of child pornography images, launched after a report was made to the police.

At this stage, no charges have been brought against the comedian in this case.

His Parisian home and his house in Seine-et-Marne were searched, computer equipment seized.

A man was indicted for disseminating and possessing child pornography images and placed under judicial control as part of this investigation.
