The National Police precipitated this Thursday the arrest of a jihadist in Campos (Mallorca) after he posted messages on his social network profiles in which he "directly incited to commit an attack against police officers", as reported by the Ministry of the Interior in a press release released this morning.

The hate messages launched by the arrested man, of Spanish nationality and Moroccan origin, intensified after he was expelled from Egypt just a few weeks ago, where he had been arrested when trying to travel to Sudan.

The police emphasize that the arrested man had no fixed address in Spain, that he had wandered through several provinces and that he was always armed with a knife.

The judge of the National Court Ismael Moreno has sent him to jail this morning, incommunicado and without bail,

The jihadist, whose identity has not been provided, had been under investigation since September, after it was found that he had a profile on a well-known social network, "with hundreds of followers", where he launched radical Islamist rants and proclaimed himself a "jihadist, mujahideen and Ala's hit man”, writes the police.

The General Information Commissioner tracked other profiles on social networks managed by the same character, where he "spread continuous threatening speeches against any type of authority, mainly police and military officials."

The researchers have reconstructed the life of the jihadist to prove that he did not have a stable address in Spain, that he has lived in several provinces (his passage through Gipuzkoa has been documented) and that he always carried a smartphone with him, with which he managed his profiles, and a white weapon

Earlier this year, the arrested man made a trip to Egypt, but was arrested when he tried to travel to Sudan and was expelled to Spanish territory, according to the press release.

It was from that moment when he hardened his speech and shared messages from the Islamic State (ISIS in its acronym in English).

The hate messages had “multiplied in recent weeks” and had become even more radical, always according to the police.

In one of those last entries, he "directly incited to commit an attack against police officers, which led to his immediate arrest."

After his arrest in Operation Kadim, documents of interest to the investigation and an electronic device and a bladed weapon which, according to the investigators, he always carried, have been seized at the Campos house.

The operation has been carried out jointly by the General Information Commissioner (CGI) and the Provincial Information Brigades of Palma de Mallorca and San Sebastián, under the direction of the Central Court of Instruction number 2 of the National Court.
