According to the police, five people were killed in the fatal crash in Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen (Baden-Württemberg).
Two other people were seriously injured.
In the accident, a car crashed sideways into a large-capacity taxi.
Initial findings by the police suggest that the car with four people on board got into the oncoming lane on Saturday night and collided with the large taxi there.

The driver of the accident vehicle and his three passengers died at the scene of the accident.
Even for a passenger of the large taxi, any help came too late.
The taxi driver and another passenger in the large taxi survived the collision with serious injuries.

An autopsy on the driver's body was ordered.
This should clarify whether the man drove sober or possibly consumed alcohol or drugs.
According to the report, the emergency call was received by the police at 0.53 a.m. on Saturday (March 11).
The material damage caused by the accident is said to be around 50,000 euros.
The accident victims should all come from the district of Karlsruhe, it was said.
