The Washington podcast host and her husband were killed by a Texas truck driver who broke into their home in the early hours of Friday, police said.

It was revealed that the man had previously harassed the woman, whose identity has yet to be released.

Neither did her husband's.

Authorities believe the assailant, identified as 38-year-old Ramin Khodakaramrezaei, entered the couple's home in Redmond, about 15 miles northeast of Seattle, through a window around 2:00 am.

The woman's mother managed to escape and went to a neighbor's house to call 911.

When officers arrived, they found the 35-year-old husband with a gunshot wound to the chest, Redmond police spokeswoman Jill Green said.

Police attempted to resuscitate the man, who died as a result of the injury.

"Apparently the assailant got to know her through the podcast and they developed some sort of friendship...they talked. But then, the man started sending her a lot of messages at a point where she decided to end contact. She talked to us and our investigators to place a restraining order [against the individual], he explained.

Police said in a statement Friday afternoon that detectives were familiar with the victim because the harassment investigation was ongoing.

They did not specify when the woman filed the restraining order.

Jill Green, Redmond Police spokeswoman

Green stated that because the man lived in Texas, police officers did not serve the restraining order "because they could not contact him."

Police don't know how long the shooter was in Washington before the attack.

"It's unfortunate that the bullying ended in such a tragic way," Green said.
