Re-election Fahrenzhausen: After Günter Fuchs, Alexandra Karl also refrained from standing again.

Susanne Hartmann is now alone at the start.

Fahrenzhausen

– If the citizens of Fahrenzhausen are called upon to go to the ballot box again in the coming weeks to elect their community leader, then that will be a big solo for Susanne Hartmann (FWE/FDP).

Because after Günter Fuchs (CSU) had already declared that he would no longer stand for the necessary repeat election, Alexandra Karl (Greens) also declared that he would not run for office on Sunday afternoon.

And so the incumbent Hartmann remains the only candidate.

The review

Review: In February, the municipal supervision in the district office determined that the mayoral election in Fahrenzhausen on September 25th and October 9th, 2022 had to be repeated because of an election violation by the second mayor and election officer Andreas Karl (FWE).

Because Susanne Hartmann, who had entered the run-off election together with Alexandra Karl and then won with almost 60 percent, did not object to the decision of the legal supervisory authority and did not file any complaints, it was clear: Only those were allowed to repeat the election within three months three candidates who had already thrown their hats in the ring in autumn 2022.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

No by Günter Fuchs

At the beginning of March, Hartmann declared that he would not file a lawsuit and would stand for re-election (we reported).

A few days later, Günter Fuchs (CSU) dared to take cover: although he had initially indicated that he personally could well imagine running again, he then had a statement read out at the annual general meeting of the CSU Fahrenzhausen in which he announced his waiver declared a candidacy.

Reason: He does not feel disadvantaged by the election violation (we have reported).

Take your time with decisions

So Alexandra Karl (Greens) was still missing.

She took her time with her decision.

A few hours after the deadline for announcing a candidacy had expired on Saturday at midnight, Karl declared in writing to the FT that she would no longer stand for the repeat election.

"I as a person can no longer be available for a new candidacy, which is necessary due to the electoral error," is the central sentence of her statement.

The explanation

"As one of you" she started as a mayoral candidate.

She was "completely surprised" that this election had been declared invalid.

However, she can “understand the decision of the municipal supervisory authority from a legal point of view” and “also thinks it is correct”.

Next: "Our community and I as a candidate are now in a situation that was neither desired nor wanted." Responsibility for this situation must be borne elsewhere.

Her nomination for mayoral candidate was made without her own local branch of the Greens.

"The journey", as Alexandra Karl calls it, which began in August 2022, has made a difference in many respects, but above all it has caused the founding of that local Green party in Fahrenzhausen.

“We have hereby laid an important cornerstone,

Since October 10, 2022 - i.e. one day after the runoff election - she herself has "been involved again in a fulfilling professional life as a lawyer and member of the supervisory board".

Numerous new projects would simply not allow her to campaign again.

The outlook

Alexandra Karl is already looking further ahead – not just up to the state elections in 2023, but also up to the local elections in 2026 wish Fahrenzhausen new impetus,” Karl interprets the result of the October 9 run-off election.

"And so we are setting sail towards 2026 for a really positive new beginning for our community." When the elections are repeated in a few weeks, there is only one person who is hoisting the sails: Susanne Hartmann.
