From the Astún to Sierra Nevada or Saint-Lary resorts, nine accommodations at the foot of the slopes

If there is something that really tires skiing, it is not sliding through the snow;

it is, above all, carrying the bulky and heavy necessary equipment wearing boots that one is eager to take off as soon as they are put on.

For this reason, for many skiers, staying at the foot of the slopes is priceless.

The nine establishments that are collected here, distributed throughout Spain, Andorra and the French Pyrenees, could not be closer to slopes and ski lifts.

Some, in fact, are in the same building as a ski lift.

They are true piste foot.

Hotel Europa, in Astún (Huesca)

It is not an exaggeration to say that you can leave the Hotel Europa with your boots on.

This accommodation is located about 20 meters from the Cima Raca and Truchas chairlifts, in the Astún ski resort.

Its rooms are simple but comfortable, some of them have been renovated, and have wonderful views over the station and numerous mountains of the Aragón valley.

On the ground floor there are restaurants, a cafeteria (open until midnight), shops and other services.

The Government of Aragon has already given the go-ahead to the agreement for the construction of a cable car that will link Astún with Candanchú, although it will not foreseeably be operational until 2025.

ARAMON

Panticosa, in the Tena Valley, is one of the few town-stations in Spain.

The cable car is part of the urban furniture as do the bus stops or park benches.

From the top, the skier can go down almost to the first streets along the Estrimal slope, inaugurated in 2014. About 60 meters from the end of this descent and 50 meters from the cable car is the Sabocos hotel, with a simple Pyrenean atmosphere, with private parking, ski storage, mountaineering library and breakfast from 7.45.

It is a saying, but it is that it is the highest hotel in the Pyrenees, at 2,000 meters above sea level (as its name indicates).

It is one hundred meters from the beginners area and 200 from the Jet Cim chairlift that goes up to Pic de l'Orri, a watchtower over the Alt Pirineu natural park, in Pallars Sobirà.

Here the snow is famous for its good quality due to the north orientation of 95% of its slopes and for enjoying a favorable microclimate.

Is the Vall de Núria the Spanish Zermatt?

Many would answer yes, if we take into account that in this corner of the eastern Pyrenees, in the Ripollès region, there are no cars and you can only go up by rack railway from Queralbs.

So spending a night in this accommodation, integrated into the Basilica of the Virgin of Núria, is enjoying the tranquility of the mountain.

The establishment has 68 rooms and 20 apartments, a mini-club for children from 4 to 10 years old and is pet-friendly.

The Cabana Pastors ski lift is only 50 meters away.

You cannot stay closer to a ski lift than by sleeping in the same building as the ski lift.

This hotel shares a facility with the Borreguiles gondola (hence its obvious name) and is a few meters from the Al Andalus gondola, at the Sierra Nevada station.

Both connect Pradollano, the main service area, with the heart of the domain in Borreguiles.

Going downhill, the Río and Montebajo slopes lead back to a step away from the accommodation which, in addition to the usual services, offers luggage storage and a shower for the day of departure after skiing.

On March 11 and 12, the Snowboard Cross World Cup is held here.

Accommodation in the Soldeu sector of the Grandvalira domain (Andorra).

The end of the Avet slope, the venue for the World Cup events at the Andorran resort of Grandvalira, crosses the spectacular platform inaugurated in 2019 over the Valira river and practically reaches the foot of the Sport Hotel Village, an alpine-looking accommodation and luxurious sensations in the Soldeu sector.

It offers a spa, with a special price for guests,

room , children's mini club, babysitting service and ski guide on request.

The Soldeu cable car leaves from the same building.

From March 13 to 19, the best skiers of the moment will compete here in the finals of the Alpine Ski World Cup.

One of the slopes of the ski resort of Peyragudes, France.

Good snow, fabulous views over 3,000 meter high mountains on the border with Spain and good prices.

At 1,600 meters, on the Peyresourde slope, linked by road and the Skyvall gondola to the village of Loudenvielle, is the heart of the Peyragudes resort, with numerous accommodations on the snow front.

These include the Valnéa apartments, for 4-5 people, with a bay window overlooking the resort and a separate toilet from the bathroom, as is common in France, and 50 meters from the Privilège chairlift and other ski lifts.

Garage space included.

One hour from the Bielsa tunnel or from Viella.

A road and two cable cars, no less, link the French town of Saint-Lary, at the bottom of the Aure valley, with the slopes in Pla d'Adet at 1,700 meters, one of the three sectors of this station, the largest in the French Pyrenees and which has opened this year a chairlift and a gondola lift and has removed 38 old bollards.

However, despite this comfort, there are those who prefer to open the windows and practically touch the snow.

The 29 apartments of the Chalets de l'Adet fulfill this condition.

They are decorated with stone and wood, have a living room with a fireplace, an indoor swimming pool, parking and allow pets.

The nearest ski lift is just 20 meters away.

The border with Spain, through Bielsa, is 30 minutes away by car.
