The first secretary of the Socialist Party (PS) Olivier Faure has launched a “clear and clear”
appeal
to the elected Les Républicains (LR) in the National Assembly to oppose, in the name of Gaullism, the pension reform .
“I ask them to be faithful to their convictions
,” he declared on the program Dimanche en Politique on France 3. “
If there are still Gaullists in the Assembly, they must remember that they are a party that set up the pay-as-you-go pension system with us, that they are the heirs, perhaps even the continuators,”
he added.
With 250 seats (Renaissance, MoDem and Horizons), the presidential camp is eyeing the votes of LR deputies, in search of around forty extra votes to constitute a majority.
After the adoption in the Senate, the pension reform must still be submitted to a very uncertain solemn vote, Thursday, March 16, in the National Assembly.
The day after the seventh day of protest, Olivier Faure also asked the head of state to call a referendum.
"The best way to ward off this divide is to leave the ultimate decision to the French people
," he said.
In a press release published on Saturday March 11, the inter-union had already called on Emmanuel Macron to organize
"a citizen consultation as soon as possible"
.
