A mother from New South Wales, Australia, asked online about the black dust that appeared in her bathroom - and was very disturbed by the answers she received.

The woman said that she returned home after five days of vacation and found unexplained "black dust" on her bathroom tiles and did not understand where it came from and what it was.

She entered a popular Facebook group for mothers, shared photos of the "dust" that had appeared on me after the shower - as well as on the bathroom floor - and said that she noticed some problem spots before she left for her vacation, but removed them when she returned and saw how the situation had worsened.

She turned to the online community for help - but later regretted it.

"We have no idea what it is or how to get rid of it. It was under the bathroom window and fell on top of the tile and the frame of the tub," she wrote in the post.

Many assumed it was an ant infestation.

Others believed that it was the feces of spiders or flies.

At least as far as spiders are concerned, the complainant can relax, because according to a website specializing in the subject - spider excrement is not solid at all but thick and liquid and looks like a brown, white or gray drip.

"There are likely ants on your window sill," said one mother and another added: "Contact pest control immediately - there may be termites! Check that the area around the window doesn't sound hollow."

It was soon agreed that the mess was caused by a colony of ants.

"It's ant dust - there's an ant nest behind the wall," wrote one, and another added: "It happened to me last week too - you need a solution that kills the queen, otherwise they'll just come back."

Charlotte Bosanquet, the founder of Care Cleaning Services Sydney, told news.com.au that the speculation about pest infestation does appear to be true.

"I definitely think that from the way it sounds, it's some kind of vermin," she said after examining the photos, "Alternatively, it could be black mold that may be common in wet environments. In any case, I highly recommend staying on the safe side and hiring a professional pest control and cleaning service at In order to ensure that this is avoided in the future."

After taking the advice of surfers, the woman named Vicki later posted an interesting update: "My husband investigated the matter further - and he found a tiny hole in the bottom corner of the frame around the window," she wrote according to Daily Mail Australia, "I saw some tiny black ants In and out - we bought some bait stickers from the supermarket and placed them near the small hole. Fingers crossed that it will work."

She then thanked the other moms who responded to her mystery and provided solutions: "Thanks to everyone who responded and offered some helpful suggestions."
