The Oscar for best documentary was awarded on the night of Sunday to Monday to
Navalny
, a film by Canadian Eric Roher recounting the events linked to the poisoning of the famous Russian opponent Alexeï Navalny, before he was thrown in prison.
A work available on Explore, the first streaming service developed by Mediawan entirely dedicated to the documentary genre.
And which will also be visible on Sunday April 9 (9 p.m.) on Paris-Première, since the channel has just acquired the broadcasting rights for French television.
Assassination attempt
Throughout the documentary, the investigation describes the political rise of Alexeï Navalny which precedes the assassination attempt which he barely survived.
Behind bars for more than two years, Navalny was arrested on his return to Russia after suffering this serious poisoning which he attributes to the Kremlin.
Last March, he was sentenced to nine years in prison on charges of
"fraud"
which he considers fictitious.

The 46-year-old opponent of Vladimir Putin's regime is jailed outside the town of Vladimir, some 230 kilometers east of Moscow, after a conviction for embezzlement, one of several judgments that Navalny denounced as an attempt to silence him.
“My husband is in prison simply because he told the truth.
My husband is in prison simply because he defends democracy,”
the dissident's wife, Yulia, said on Sunday.
