Pope Francis asked this Monday
that the world give him "peace"
for the tenth anniversary of his election as the 266th pontiff in the history of the Church, while calling it "the most beautiful moment" of his first decade in office. to
a meeting with the elderly in Plaza San Pedro in 2014.
"Peace, peace is needed,"
responded the pontiff when asked which gift he would choose for the anniversary, in a podcast conducted by the Vatican media.
"I did not think of being
the Pope of the third world war,
I thought that Syria in 2014 was something unique. But then there was Yemen, I saw the tragedy of the Rohingyas in Myanmar and I saw that there was a world war. And behind is the industry
of weapons.
This is diabolical", he condemned about some of the world conflicts he went through in the pontificate.
Three wishes
During the recording, the Pope left three wishes for the future:
"fraternity, tears and smiles".
"Fraternity because we are all brothers, we have to rebuild it. In addition, we have to learn
not to be afraid to cry and smile.
A person who knows how to cry and laugh does not have his feet on the ground. If he has forgotten, it is because something is wrong ", he added.
In a similar vein, in an interview with Swiss television RSI, the pope chose
"grace"
as a word to describe his first years of pontificate.
