An undersea earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 was recorded off the Greek island of Kythera in the southern Aegean Sea on Tuesday evening, with no immediate reports of damage or hurt.

According to the National Observatory of Athens, the quake took place at 4:36 p.m. at a depth of 14 kilometers in the Aegean Sea, 299 kilometers south of Athens and 98 kilometers from Kythera.
Located on several geological fault lines, Greece is regularly hit by earthquakes.
In October 2020, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake in the Aegean Sea killed two people on the Greek island of Samos and more than 100 in the nearby Turkish coastal city of Izmir.
