In a letter he sent to Beharev-Miara and the legal advisor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the head of the opposition wrote that the use of ambassadors for a political purpose that is not part of their work is a "promiscuous politicization of the public service." In an appeal to the ambassadors, Lapid asked to ignore the directive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which he defined as "a clearly illegal directive"

Leader of the opposition Yair Lapid today (Tuesday) called on the legal advisor to the government Gali Beharve-Miara to stop the use of the message page that was sent to the Israeli ambassadors in Europe regarding the legal revolution and was exposed in Walla!, and called on the Israeli ambassadors to ignore it.

In a letter that Lapid sent to the Ombudsman and the legal advisor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tal Becker, he wrote that "I was surprised to discover that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is abusing ambassadors in Europe for political needs that are not part of their work." At the center of the fierce and destructive political dispute in the country's history is a blatant deviation from the definition of their role and constitutes a promiscuous politicization of the public service."

Lapid noted that contrary to what was written on the message page sent to the ambassadors, what is happening in Israel is not "a lively public debate on the issue of legal reform, which is a sensitive point in the Israeli public" but rather "an attack on Israeli democracy" that causes damage to Israel's security, its economy and its foreign relations.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs cannot investigate bills that have not yet been passed by the Israeli Knesset and have not yet entered the statute book and that there are serious doubts about their legality," Lapid wrote.

"Any attempt by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to conduct a political campaign outside Israel's borders is a serious violation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' role and a complete violation of the rules of diplomacy that will cause Israel heavy political damage."

Lapid called on the legal adviser and legal adviser of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to "immediately stop the blatant use of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the purpose of trying to create international legitimacy for the trampling of Israeli democracy."

He added: "As long as the opinion of the legal counsel has not been received, I call on the ambassadors of Israel to ignore a directive that is clearly illegal, is not within the scope of their duties, and causes heavy damage to Israel's foreign relations."

Ahead of the debate that will be held today in the European Parliament on the legal revolution in Israel, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent Israel's ambassadors in Europe a message sheet to repel international criticism.

On the message page it was emphasized that Israel is a vibrant and strong democracy in which there is a lively public debate on the subject of "the legal reform which is a sensitive point in the Israeli public".

Political messages were also included in the instructions sent to the ambassadors.

For example, it is written that the results of the recent elections "express a clear decision of the Israeli public regarding the identity of the government and its agenda".
