Will the National Assembly join the Senate and call on the government to recognize the genocide of the Assyrian-Chaldeans by the Ottoman Empire between 1915 and 1918?
This is the challenge of the motion for a resolution presented on February 9 by three LR deputies: Anne-Laure Blin, elected from Maine-et-Loire, Éric Ciotti and Michèle Tabarot, both representatives of the Alpes-Maritimes.
On February 8, the High Assembly had voted by an overwhelming majority (300 votes for, 2 against and 23 abstentions) in favor of an identical resolution tabled by Senator Valérie Boyer (Bouches-du-Rhône).
As Anne-Laure Blin points out, the text tabled in the National Assembly also includes several bills presented in the 2010s by Valérie Boyer, then elected to the Assembly.
