Tens of thousands of people arrive at the centers of demonstrations against the legal revolution throughout the country (according to section 27a)
Ahead of the debate to be held today (Tuesday) in the European Parliament on the legal revolution in Israel, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent Israel's ambassadors in Europe a message sheet to repel international criticism.
In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs instructed the ambassadors to contact members of the European Parliament who are considered pro-Israeli and to request that they express opposition to the intervention of the European Union in Israel's internal affairs in the debate.
why is it important
This is an extremely unusual discussion of the European Parliament that deals with issues of legislation in the Knesset and the demonstrations that have been taking place in recent weeks throughout Israel.
Publicly, the Foreign Ministry tried to downplay the importance of the discussion, but under the surface they worked intensively to try and influence its content.
EU Foreign Minister Joseph Borrell is expected to speak at the debate.
This will be the first time that an official representative of the European Union speaks out on the subject of the legal revolution.

Behind the Scenes
On Saturday night, the director of the European Union department at the Foreign Ministry, Assaf Moran, sent a directive to all Israeli ambassadors in the European Union regarding the planned debate in the European Parliament.
For guidance, Moran attached a link to an article published in Walla!
on the subject the day before.
Moran informed the Israeli ambassadors that following the diplomatic activity of the Israeli Embassy to the EU institutions in Brussels, the possibility of voting on an emergency resolution in the European Parliament regarding the legal revolution in Israel was prevented.
In the directive, the ambassadors were asked to contact the "Friends of Israel" in the European Parliament and give them a message sheet against the debate that they could use.
On the message page it was emphasized that Israel is a vibrant and strong democracy in which there is a lively public debate on the subject of "the legal reform which is a sensitive point in the Israeli public".
The message page states that the demonstrations against the legislation promoted by the government "are an expression of both the controversy on the subject and the ability of the Israeli public to exercise its democratic rights."
Political messages were also included in the instructions sent to the ambassadors.
For example, it is written that the results of the recent elections "express a clear decision of the Israeli public regarding the identity of the government and its agenda".
Although a second and third reading vote on parts of the legislation is possible as early as next week, the ambassadors were instructed to brief members of the European Parliament that this is "an internal Israeli process that is far from over and it is better to let it exhaust itself without external intervention."
Another message that the ambassadors were asked to convey is that the legislation on the legal system "does not have any immediate impact on the Palestinians" and that if the European Union is concerned that the legislation will harm the Palestinians, it should be discussed through the appropriate channels.
The message sheet distributed to the ambassadors even included an attempt to divert the discussion from the legal revolution by means of the terrorist attack that took place in Tel Aviv.
"The terrorists who on Thursday evening seriously injured three young men in the heart of Tel Aviv did not do so because of the reform, but because of abysmal hatred and an inciting atmosphere. It is appropriate that the discussion on the issue should also express condemnation of this attack and terrorism in general," the message page sent to the ambassadors reads.
