The soccer player will be tried in the coming weeks in the courts of Lomas de Zamora for the crimes of "minor injuries aggravated by the relationship" and for mediating "gender violence and coercive threats."

Although Sebastián Villa

's defense considers that "there are no elements to go to trial", the Colombian soccer player will be subjected to one, accused of injuries and threats that his ex-partner

Daniela Cortés

allegedly suffered in 2020

, in the house they shared in the Buenos Aires town of Canning.

It is a crime that provides for a penalty of up to six years in prison.

The debate will be in charge of the Correctional Court 2 of Lomas de Zamora, in charge of Claudia Dávalos, who set hearings for the 17th, 18th and 19th of next month.

The trial will discuss the events that occurred on April 27, 2020, in the house shared by Villa and his ex, in the private Saint Thomas neighborhood of Canning, where he lived before moving to the "Venado II" country estate, where The second episode of gender violence supposedly took place in June 2021 for which the striker was denounced, by another woman, for

sexual abuse

.

Within the framework of that first complaint, Cortés disseminated images through social networks, after which a case was opened in the prosecutor's office 3 of Esteban Echeverría, specialized in Gender Violence.

In that video, images of the visibly beaten woman were observed, while the complainant recounted violent events experienced next to the soccer player, whom he described as "an abuser, both physically and psychologically."

"We consider that there are not even elements to go to trial," estimated Villa's defense attorney who had requested the psychological expertise of Cortés, who lives in Medellín.

The lawyer traveled to that Colombian city to verify the evidence, but the complainant did not appear, according to the Télam agency.

In June 2021, the Lomas de Zamora Criminal Chamber confirmed the elevation of this case to trial at the request of the Guarantees judge of that district Javier Maffucci Moore, the same one who intervenes in the second case of gender violence involving the soccer player.

Villa will be tried for the crimes of "minor injuries aggravated by the bond and for mediating gender violence and coercive threats."

the other case

The second episode was denounced by a 26-year-old girl on May 13, 2022 before the same prosecutor who, although she requested Villa's immediate arrest, Judge Maffucci Moore rejected the claim and suggested further investigation.

Regarding this file, the lawyer Apolo explained to Télam that several measures of evidence still need to be produced, including psychological expert opinions on the complainant and evacuating quotes from the soccer player's investigation, who pleaded not guilty.

After being investigated for the crime of "sexual abuse with carnal access" -which provides for up to 15 years in prison-, between October and November Villa also submitted to psychological expertise that, according to his defense attorney, revealed that the striker "He does not present features compatible with the fact that is imputed to him."
