The batteries

This is currently the only option developed on an industrial scale: to drive, the electric car with battery emits neither pollutants nor greenhouse gases, provided that it is charged with carbon-free electricity (wind, solar, hydraulic or nuclear).

Its use is gradually becoming more widespread in France (13% of registrations last year), while the charging network is expanding, with 83,000 public terminals installed at the end of 2022. But before having made its first turns, the electric vehicle will have emitted much more than its thermal equivalent.
