A low price to allow the most precarious students to eat their fill.
But this place is regularly targeted by burglaries.
This Sunday, the security services of the University of Bordeaux had to intervene on the Talençais campus where the solidarity grocery store is located, after a break-in.
“
An individual tried to steal a large quantity of foodstuffs by entering through a window
”, describes the association.
This intrusion “
echoes the many others that the grocery store teams have suffered since last year
”.

The damage done on Sunday concerned shutters and windows changed less than two months ago
," laments Hugo Lopes.
He also testifies to "
several attempts to break into the door, without success
", as well as individuals who have already "
entered the storage places through the window
" in the past.
This Sunday, there would have been “
no theft or very little
”, specifies the president of the association, due to a rapid intervention by the security of the University.
“
The individual left a priori before he could even do anything, probably surprised by the arrival of security
”, leaving behind a cart full of food products.

"
Despite the security efforts, the vigilance of everyone and the repairs carried out
", the members of the organization say they are "
once again helpless in the face of this attack
", and believe that it is a question of “
a direct blow to the dozens of students who come every week to buy their food and hygiene products
”.
The association specifies, however, that it will continue “
to ensure that each student can continue to feed themselves and live with dignity despite the difficulties
”.

Contacted, the University of Bordeaux also deplores this incident, stressing nevertheless that it is only a “
small break-in
”, because the person was put to flight quickly.
Among the avenues considered to prevent burglaries from taking place again, the establishment plans to reinforce the rounds, but wants to highlight the difficulties linked to the fact that the campus is vast, open to a tram stop, and therefore difficult to constantly monitor.
