President Yitzhak Herzog will present tonight (Wednesday) at 20:30 the "People's Blueprint" for changes in the judicial system.
This will be Herzog's third speech to a nation in crisis surrounding the legal revolution.
Last month, before the approval of the first phase of the reform in the first reading in the Knesset, he gave the first speech in which he called on the coalition to stop the reform legislation in order to start negotiations and presented a five-point constitutional outline as a basis for negotiations.
Justice Minister Yariv Levin and Constitutional Committee member Simcha Rothman refused to stop the legislation and the opposition refused to speak as long as the legislation continues.
So the president began talks between jurists and academics from all shades of the political and liberal/conservative spectrum in an attempt to formulate an agreed outline for changes in the justice system.
Last week, President Herzog put pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, and Constitutional Committee member Simcha Rothman to come to an agreement on the outline he will present.
In recent days, Prime Minister Yossi Fox and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer have held heated talks on the issue in front of the President's House on Netanyahu's behalf.
Tonight Netanyahu met with senior coalition officials in an attempt to formulate a positive response to Herzog's outline.
