Yungblud tells the secrets of his unstoppable success, before coming to Lollapalooza

2023-03-15T22:55:02.679Z

The rising figure of British rock will be in Argentina for the first time, this Saturday at 3:45 p.m. on the Flow Stage.

At the age of 25, Dominic Richard Harrison managed to turn his alter ego

Yungblud

into

one of the most explosive figures in British rock

.

He's already had his fair share of his own hits and has even recorded with Ozzy Osbourne, Marshmello, Halsey, Travis Barker, Machine Gun Kelly, Avril Lavigne and Willow.

Even

Mick Jagger recently praised him

: "Rock takes energy and there haven't been many new rock singers. But now there are some, like Yungblud and Machine Gun Kelly. That postpunk cool guy makes me think there's still a bit of life in rock and roll.

Yungblud is touring the world with his Life on Mars Tour, where he presents his latest album, with the same title.

One characteristic of Yungblud is that it is a phenomenon that goes far beyond music:

it is the voice of an anguished, discontented and disaffected generation

.

Behind his punk aesthetic there is an artist who knows the codes of his public and amplifies them with his attitudes and songs.

The result?

He stars in a boom that fills stadiums, to the point that he filled Wembley a month before his show this Saturday the 18th at Lollapalooza Argentina, at 3:45 p.m.

on the Flow stage.

"I'm in shock"

-Congratulations on filling Wembley.

Is it something you ever dreamed of?

-On this tour we have done absolutely massive shows, and playing in a place of that size is something I dreamed of since I was a kid.

Wembley was everything I imagined it to be.

Maybe it was the best time of my life, and then we did more dates in Europe, something really crazy.

I can't believe how big the family is!

That's what it's all about to me: an idea, a subculture and a community.

It's all about love and honestly it's pretty crazy everything that happens.

I'm still in shock, dazed.

This tour was the biggest I've ever done, and I was afraid I wasn't going to feel close to the people.

However, I feel more connected and closer to my fans than before, because this is an idea, a movement and a revolution.

-Your career was already important in 2018-2019, but after the pandemic it reached new heights.

-From the beginning it was about connecting with people.

If someone in the industry asked me what the secret is, I would say two things: that the question is silly, and that it was always me talking to one person, that person talking to another, and so on.

Because Yungblud is not just about me, and that's why I'm so excited about going to Argentina for the first time.

There is always such a fierce energy that it spreads everywhere.

Yungblud will sing on Saturday at 3:45 p.m. on the Flow stage of Lollapalooza Argentina.

-Does it make you nervous to go to a country for the first time, where you don't know the dimension of your fanbase?

-It's the best of these tours!

I got into this to make friends and for this to be a community, more than a musical project.

I wanted Yungblud to be a place to go and be yourself and how you want to be.

That's why I like it when I go to a new country, and I already saw on the internet that there is a huge Yungblud fan base in Argentina.

I can't wait to see them for the first time and go crazy at Lollapalooza.

Just these days he was making the set list and he's going to have so much energy that people won't know what blew his mind.

"I have a lot of energy and love to give"

-It also helps to have a great album and good songs.

Are you proud of your third album?

-Yes.

He was crazy how people received it, what they felt and how they connected.

He drives me crazy when someone looks me in the eye and tells me that a song of mine helped him.

What makes me most proud is the connection with people through music.

Because it's more than a good song, and that's more than I ever dreamed of.

And a new album will be out very soon, sooner than you think.

-What can you anticipate?

-Maybe it's the heaviest thing I've ever done.

The arrangements are very weird and original, maybe a bit like my first album,

21st Century Liability

, but made at 25 years old, not 19. I'm working with an amazing producer named Paul Meany, who worked with Twenty One Pilots and was in a band called Mutemath.

I have a lot of energy and love to give, so I'm not going to stop here.

Many tell me to take a break, but I want to move on.

I love what I do and feel very lucky to be able to do it.

I love the energy of rock and being able to meet people.

And I like when people connect, which is something that doesn't happen very often in this world.

I like it when people take a breather and really see the other person around them.
