How do “old people” look at the end of life?
While the opponents of active assistance in dying warn against the
"death injunction"
that euthanasia would impose on the elderly and vulnerable, Les Petits Frères des Pauvres gives the floor to the main interested parties.
At a time when the citizens' convention is entering its home stretch, the association has conducted a qualitative survey on this existential question among 122 seniors and a few precarious people over 50*.
First observation, arrived at an age where the question of death becomes less and less abstract, they are challenged by this debate.
Whether they are hostile or in favor of changing the law.
However, two-thirds are unaware of the existence of the citizens' convention on the end of life.
65% do not know the current law on the end of life either and 33% only in a fragmentary way.
It must be said that in their entourage, the question of death remains taboo.
